if you saw the last episode of college football live like i did, then you're probably intrigued at the idea of the four mega football conferences that were presented. personally, i like the idea of the possible new SEC just to see teams like Texas and Oklahoma challenge Florida and Alabama every year. i also like the idea of the new ACC for basketball reasons, so i can see U-Conn and West Virginia take on North Carolina and Duke two or three times a year instead of waiting for the elite-eight or final four where it's not guarunteed they will face-off. however, i do not like the ideas of the possible new Pac-10 and possible new Big-Ten. i find it unusual that teams like Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, and TCU would join the Pac-10 when they're far away from the pacific region. i think instead of those four teams that i mentioned, the current Pac-10 teams should take travel time/costs into consideration and add teams like UNLV, Nevada, Boise State, and Idaho. Kansas should instead join the new Big-Ten so that Notre Dame can remain independent. now i know some people don't like ND not being a part of any conference, but i think their "special treatment" makes the rankings more unpredictable. now that you know my opinions, i'd like to hear what you think about the possible mega football conferences, and why or why not you agree with my thoughts. **also i would like to know if anyone has heard anything about how having 16-team conferences will affect football scheduling....
